I love this place and look forward to eating here every time we're in the area. Good food, quick service and tall beers all make for a good time.

One of the worst dining experiences/meals ever! I gave it one star so I could post this message. Otherwise, it would have been zero stars. This place was recommended to my husband. When you see NO cars in the parking lot, that should be a red flag. Now, we are both hoping we do not get sick! What a mistake. The menu was not the same as online, and food was unremarkable. Anyone can pour cans of crabmeat on to a tortilla... Atmosphere poor. Why? All of the staff sat at the table next to us (because they were not busy) folding napkins, etc. talking very loudly, very distracting. The overhead lights were way too bright, for an evening meal in the bar area. Never ever again. We should have left immediately. Again, a mistake not to be repeated.

Service here is lackluster at best, I've gone several times over the past few years, today was my last time. I seldom return a meal, but today was the exception, my meal was cool tot he touch and my partners food was last nights rice. Come on, there is better places to go. Skip this place. I will.

We had their beef tacos and they were the best tacos we have had at any restaurant. They were stuffed with meat and everything else we requested. They served the best salsa which paired very well with the tacos. While we did have to wait a minute to be seated because they were short staffed, we would wait again for a meal like that. Our food was served quickly and was the expected temperature. Staff was friendly. We have 6 mexican restaurants in our town 30 mins away, but we are already discussing a day trip back to the beach just so we can come back for those tacos and salsa. We have tolerated many more inconveniences for lackluster food so a short wait will not keep us away. Makes for a great excuse for the 2 hour drive to the beach.

El Zarape is one of the few Mexican cuisine restaurants in the area of Atlantic Beach. I have ate here in previous years past and had a pleasant experience. This year not so much; the restaurant was very cold and we waited well over 30 min for basic dinner entrees. The food was extremely greasy and came out one plate at time. However the waitress did apologize after I made a comment on the long wait. Also the portion sizes for the cost is not justifiable in my opinion compared to a El Paso.
